About

My name is Thomas Reggi, I have a passion for creating and solving problems. I love the connectedness, and vast opportunity that is present with the web. I also have a thirst for business, and a knack for design. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and now reside in Staten Island. I am currently looking for a Junior position at a tech company / startup or a design firm.

To quote my elementary school yearbook “In my future I want to be an inventor”.I believe that I am doing exactly what my 10 year old self wanted, simply put, I build the web. It was in elementary school that I had my first encounter with a computer. I knew very little about computers at the time but I had a thirst for creating.

It wasn’t until the age of 14 until I had a computer in the home. I remember growing up in the era  of AOL and experimenting with the Hometown service. Hometown granted me FTP access to my first very own web page. This is when I stubbled into HTML and designing webpages. This preliminary dive into HTML prepared me for a course in HTML in High School.

When myspace came about there was a inherent use for all of the collective knowledge I had gained through the years. Myspace gave me the opportunity to customize how people perceived me.

In college I decided to move toward Graphic Design rather than Computer Science because of the creative aspects of design. It wasn’t until this time that I was focused on learning and accumulating knowledge. I had focused a lot of my attention on learning Ruby on Rails from scratch  which was not the best approach. I naturally found PHP, MYSQL, and, JavaScript more and more useful as the years went by, and moved away from static HTML pages.

It wasn’t until the summer after college that I harnessed the power of MVC, and my big obsession with CodeIgniter a PHP framework. Which has paved the way toward a better understanding of object oriented programming. Now I have gone full circle and a large majority of the Ruby on Rails stuff I learned years ago makes more sense.

I am now at a pivotal moment in my life where I can put my skills to use and create something great and contribute to the social ecosystem we have created, the web.
